Undergraduate Research at North Central College

Students can collaborate with faculty mentors, carrying out independent research projects in their advisors' research areas. This could involve laboratory work done on campus, field work and/or work at a research university or government laboratory. Results can be presented at scientific conferences or even published in a scientific journal.

There are several ways this research can be done:

During the academic year, many faculty welcome the opportunity to work with students who can commit as little as 10 hours per week to research. Students can get independent study credit for their work, and expenses can be funded by a Richter Fellowship.
Our three week Interim, the mini-term between Thanksgiving and the Christmas break, is a good time to get a taste of research or start a research project.
For an in-depth research experience, apply to participate in our eight-week Summer Research Program.
